One Of Us is a visual effects studio founded in London in 2004 by co-directors Rachael Penfold, Dominic Parker, and Tom Debenham.
With a dynamic team of over 300 highly skilled professionals, we take pride in pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling with experience in all stages of production, from concept through to planning, photography, and post-production.
From breathtaking fantasy landscapes to gripping action sequences, our portfolio spans a diverse range of genres and award-winning projects such as Under The Skin, The Witcher and The Crown.
We’ll keep you busy with:
- Working closely with the show production, project development teams, and the Head of Resourcing to plan and allocate appropriate resources, ensuring optimal crew deployment to maximise efficiency and maintain show schedules.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of available talent and their skill sets.
- Line managing the crew in your teams, conduct regular performance reviews alongside HOD’s and providing mentoring and career development guidance.
- Managing lifecycle events for your team; onboarding, contract changes, salary and promotion actions and offboarding as required.
- Ensuring the team has access to the necessary tools, software, and equipment escalating requests to tech where needed.
- Monitoring needs for hiring within your teams, working with the recruitment team and the Head of Resourcing to facilitate.
- Keep crew scheduling software up to date with adapting needs on a weekly basis.
- Work closely with department HODs on balancing skills within their disciplines. Flagging training needs to the HOD’s and People team.
- Be the first point of contact for artists absence, escalating any ongoing concerns to the HOD and People team where needed.
You’ll be working towards:
- Maintaining high team morale.

- Maximising crew efficiency aiding show delivery on time and in budget.
- Ensure timely reporting of crew scheduling data to avoid major scheduling conflicts and ensure crew are efficiently utilised.

- Basic understanding of VFX pipelines and workflows.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility and openness to adapt to improve processes and ways of working.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Driven to make things better with the humility to admit when something isn’t working, taking the right decision to ensure the team and OOU in general have the best we can offer.
- Infectious energy, focusing on results and having a positive impact on colleagues and clients.
- Self awareness and ability to resolve and diffuse problems treating colleagues and clients with kindness and respect.
- Ability to work well with others navigating different personalities to get the best out of everyone.
Experience needed:
- Experience managing a team.
- Basic understanding of contract and employment law.
- Proficient in office tools such as Excel and resource management software .
- Experience in coordinating VFX projects and Shotgrid a bonus.
Next step up
The career path for a VFX Crew Manager often involves progressing to higher leadership and strategic roles within VFX or moving into a role within show production.

Hours and Location
Our core hours are 09:30am to 18:30pm, or 10:00am to 19:00 pm Monday to Friday. We have a great office in Old Street where many of our teams work from
All roles, including hybrid/remote opportunities, at One of Us require candidates to reside in the UK or France, depending on the location of the role, or must be willing to relocate for the duration of the contract. All candidates must disclose if they have an existing Right to Work in the relevant country, or would require sponsorship support, i.e. Visa.
