Systems Administrator

The Systems Administrator role involves taking responsibility for the successful management and maintenance of systems and services within One of Us. Reporting to the Head of Technology, you will work closely with the Systems and Development teams to ensure the successful transition of technology from design and implementation into operations through the application of knowledge transfer and capability management.
This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimising key functional areas, particularly server and network infrastructure. You will troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and process problems in a timely, efficient and effective fashion.
You will be part of a team who takes ownership for effective provisioning of systems and services to the business and has responsibility for the operational integrity of all deployed technology and in ensuring that processes and governance are in place to minimise the risk to ongoing production flow.
Responsibilities:
- Providing technical support for VFX Artists using Linux workstations
- Maintaining server room and other facility equipment along with the Technology Engineers
- Management and troubleshooting; Layer 2/3 network switches
- Supporting physical security systems/applications and ensuring proper functioning
- Installing, deploying and troubleshooting VFX tools including Maya, Nuke, Baselight, Linux servers and workstations, network equipment and virtual machines
- Taking ownership of and assisting the Technology Team with various evaluation, installation, development and decommissioning projects
- Managing preventative maintenance schedules
- Knowledge of other relevant security technologies and processes, e.g. encryption and authentication methods/methodologies
- Upgrading and configuring infrastructure systems and software as needed
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Maintaining and monitoring critical server infrastructure, including both Linux (CentOS) and Windows Desktop/Server
- Installation and maintenance of storage servers (Dell EMC, Qumulo, Avid)
- Management and development of centralised configuration and revisioning tools
- Documenting changes to the environment and processes
- Providing support where necessary in Remote User Support, Linux and Windows Desktop and Wi-Fi connectivity
Essential Skills:
- Linux experience (RHEL/Centos and Ubuntu) in Desktop and Server environments
- Knowledge of Windows Server, Windows 10 and MacOS
- Operational knowledge of the Cloud platforms
- VMWare/vSphere configuration and management
- Active Directory, LDAP, for machine and user authentication
- Configuring network protocols, such as - NFS, SMB, FTP, DNS
- Ability to script with Bash, Python, or PowerShell
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with configuration management tools – Such as Puppet, Salt, Chef
- Exposure to Docker, or other container management systems
- Virtualization, Containerization, Cloud Compute, Kubernetes and knowledge thereof
All roles, including hybrid/remote opportunities, at One of Us require candidates to reside in the UK or France, depending on the location of the role, or must be willing to relocate for the duration of the contract. All candidates must disclose if they have an existing Right to Work in the relevant country, or would require sponsorship support, i.e. Visa.
